Venerable Fernando de Contreras Community Centre
Community development and social welfare programme for the residents of Villa Villarejo (Canelones, Uruguay)
The Venerable Fernando de Contreras Social Centre is an initiative of the Grupo Azvi Foundation aimed at promoting the social, educational and community development of the residents of Villa Villarejo, in the department of Canelones (Uruguay).
This community centre was set up with the aim of providing comprehensive support for children, young people and their families, helping to strengthen social cohesion and improve the community’s quality of life. The project has been spearheaded by the Grupo Azvi Foundation in collaboration with COINTER Uruguay and in coordination with the Villarejo Neighbourhood Association and various local social organisations.
The centre runs a community action programme based on care and socio-educational support, which includes academic support, psycho-educational guidance and monitoring, activities aimed at prevention and promoting well-being, as well as initiatives designed to strengthen family capacities through training and guidance sessions for mothers, fathers and carers.
Through these initiatives, the Venerable Fernando de Contreras Social Centre is establishing itself as a hub for community engagement, participation and support, helping to create safer, more inclusive environments that generate opportunities for future generations.
Through this project, the Grupo Azvi Foundation is reinforcing its commitment to the development of the communities in which it operates, by supporting initiatives that promote education, equal opportunities and social wellbeing as key tools for building a more sustainable and cohesive future.
