The President of Uruguay opens a new Bethania centre with the support of the Grupo Azvi Foundation
The opening marks a continuation of the Foundation’s partnership with Bethania in providing care for people with addiction problems, which was recently renewed to continue supporting its work in Uruguay.
The President of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay, Yamandú Orsi, has opened a new Bethania addiction treatment centre for women in the department of Rocha, an initiative supported by the Grupo Azvi Foundation, with which the organisation has recently renewed its partnership agreement.
Housed in a former rural school that has been refurbished in La Carbonera, the centre has been refurbished to provide a suitable environment for the treatment and support of its service users, who undergo a therapeutic programme lasting approximately nine months, designed to aid their recovery and help them rebuild their lives.
At the opening ceremony, the President of the Republic was joined by the director of the Grupo Azvi Foundation, Pilar Kraan; the mayor of Rocha, Alejo Umpiérrez; the founder and therapeutic director of Bethania, Victorio Ponce de León; and the project’s promoter and director of the ‘Venciendo Adicciones’ programme, Ana Laura Serralta, as well as other departmental officials.
A long-standing partnership
The Azvi Group Foundation has been supporting Bethania since 2023, when the Juanicó Women’s Therapeutic Community in Canelones was launched, helping to expand treatment and recovery opportunities for women with addiction problems.
Our support underpins a comprehensive care model based on treatment, professional support and environments conducive to recovery, facilitating access to specialist resources within the country.
Through the continuation of this partnership, we reaffirm our commitment to initiatives that create social impact, promote inclusion and help to improve people’s wellbeing and independence.
