The Azvi Group Foundation is taking part in the charity run “Your kilometres give us life” to raise funds for research into childhood cancer

Last Sunday, 26 October, the Grupo Azvi Foundation took part in the charity run “Tus Kms nos dan vida” (“Your kilometres give us life”), an initiative in aid of research into childhood cancer.

The sporting event, organised by the Spanish Society of Paediatric Haematology and Oncology, aimed to raise funds for research and raise public awareness of the harsh reality faced by children suffering from this disease.

A total of 6,000 people – including children affected by the disease, survivors, family members, doctors, healthcare professionals and various representatives from civil society – gathered at the Alamillo Park in Seville to raise awareness of a cause that, sadly, affects many children in our country. In Spain, the incidence of childhood cancer is estimated at 15 new cases per 100,000 children under the age of 15, with a five-year survival rate of around 80 per cent – an encouraging figure resulting from the constant efforts of the scientific and medical community.

We at the Grupo Azvi Foundation would like to congratulate the organising team behind this event, which benefited from the invaluable collaboration of Dr Eduardo Quiroga and Dr Rosa Cabello Laureano, from the Paediatric Oncology team at the Virgen del Rocío Hospital in Seville. Their commitment to protecting children deserves our utmost admiration and recognition.
